Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be taking full advantage of the PS5 Pro, with a number of key features supported for Sony’s high-end console including upgraded PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) and more.
The PS5 version of the game will fully support the DualSense controller’s unique functions, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and Activision is also confirming that 120Hz HFR and VRR support will be on hard to offer high fidelity play. Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 4 will also offer Low Energy Mode to reduce power consumption.
For PS5 Pro owners specifically, this latest entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise will offer PSSR 2.0, enhanced visual quality for 120Hz and 60Hz, as well as an unlocked frame rate when enabling VRR and 120Hz.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is slated for release on October 23, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game’s narrative follows South Korean recruit Private Park and ex-Task Force 141 leaker Captain John Price, against the backdrop of an invasion of the Korean Peninsula by the Korean People’s Army, which threatens to destabilise the globe. Outside of this, Modern Warfare 4 features a competitive multiplayer mode as well as DMZ, an extraction shooter offering that returns from 2022’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare II.
