Call Of Duty Warzone Season 3 Gave Virgin Media Its ‘Biggest Gaming Traffic Spike On Record’

Internet provider Virgin Media has revealed that the release of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 recorded the company’s ‘biggest gaming traffic spike on record’ following its rollout on April 26.

Season 3’s launch saw Virgin Media record its busiest day of 2022 so far and its second busiest period on April 27, beaten only on December 28, 2021. This was attributed to people staying home watching the Premier League football matches streamed on Amazon Prime Video as a result of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Virgin Media said that on April 27 between 4.00pm and midnight, the average customer consumed 12.1GB of data, which is a week-on-week increase of 29%. Furthermore, the evening peak period between 8.00pm – 10.00pm was 11.9% higher than the average, and a rise of 23.8% than the week before.
