Capcom expects PS3 sales to eclipse all other platforms this year

Even though it’s publishing titles for all major platforms, Capcom is forecasting leading sales numbers to come from the PlayStation 3.

The industry giant today sent out a chart graphing the predicted results for software sales in 2011. With Capcom publishing 53 titles this year, the company says it plans to sell 8 million units across 16 titles on the PS3 alone. These numbers strongly overshadow sales expected for the next leading platform listed, the Xbox 360, with 4.7 million sales expected across 14 titles.

That’s a pretty good prospect for the PS3 from Capcom. I wonder if these substantial expectations have anything to do with the recent announcement of the upcoming Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD coming to PS3.
