GameFly boss Garnett Lee has let slip that Capcom is planning on lifting the lid on a sequel to one of its established franchises at E3 next month.
Apparently the game is in development at a western developer, which ties in neatly with Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimota’s recent announcement that the Japanese publisher intends to utilize western studios for sequels and ports only, instead of new IP.
The question as to whether or not Capcom could effectively outsource existing series to western developers was raised on Lee’s latest podcast, to which he replied: "Boy, their E3 bombshell puts that to test. I’m not going to spill it because I don’t want to make anyone mad, but boy their E3 bombshell puts that to test."
With this in mind, it is conceivable we could be looking at a fresh instalment in the Resident Evil or Devil May Cry franchise. However, if we’re to believe recent rumors, a sequel to Devil May Cry 4 is already in the works over at Ninja Theory.
Still, we’ll find out one way or the other at E3 next month. For now, feel free to speculate as to what Capcom has up its sleeves in the comments section below. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a new Dino Crisis.
