Speaking with Reuters, CD Projekt RED joint CEO Michael Nowakowski has revealed that multiplayer elements are being considered for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed Project Orion, which is still many years away from release.
While he said that the studio was considering multiplayer elements for the game, he didn’t have any details to share at the time.
The executive revealed that Project Orion is currently in the conceptual phase, which means it hasn’t yet entered production. However, Nowakowski said that he expects around 80 people to be working on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel by the end of this year.

Not much is known about Project Orion yet, and it’s obviously still a long way off at this point. However, earlier this year, narrative director Igor Sarzyński said that Cyberpunk 2077 “was just a warm up” for what’s in store for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
Back in October 2022, CDPR’s Pawel Sasko revealed the the core members of the team who developed the original Cyberpunk 2077 had relocated to the US to head up a new studio for production of the sequel. This new studio is based in Boston, and will be working alongside the teams at Vancouver and Warsaw.
