It might’ve taken CD Projekt RED three years after Cyberpunk 2077’s launch to fix and frankly, complete the game, but now that it has players are basking in what’s now considered another CD Projekt RED masterpiece.
Now, as CDPR turns its attention to the coming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, Project Orion, narrative director Igor Sarzyński is getting players excited about what’s next.
Sarzyński went as far to say on Twitter that Cyberpunk 2077 “was just a warm up” for what’s to come in Project Orion, as he and the rest of the team in CD Projekt RED’s Boston office kick off production.
“First day in the Boston office! So good to meet old friends and officially kickstart our Orion journey. I couldn’t be more excited for this project and I’m sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up.”
On one hand, it can almost be a bit de-valuing to call what was once the most important game in CD Projekt RED’s portfolio for more than a decade “a warm-up,” and players arguably couldn’t be blamed for feeling some type of way about the awful launch they waited near a decade for.
On the other, Cyberpunk 2077 is now one of the best RPG’s on the market, and if the same energy from the Phantom Liberty DLC goes into Orion, then “a warm-up” is exactly how the original game will be viewed once Orion launches.
Hopefully, Sarzyński is right.
