The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is scheduled for release on PS4 in June 2017. Despite confusion regarding the game’s exclusivity to Sony’s flagship home console, it appears the collection will indeed only be released for the PS4 despite previous reports. The collection features remastered versions of three classic PSOne titles: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.

Each game in the collection has been fully remastered and built from the ground-up for the PS4, although Vicarious has utilised the original games’ geometry as a template. In addition to boasting some PS4-sized graphical muscles, Crash’s revamped platforming antics also sport a unified checkpoint and save system and a Time Trial option.

Crash Bandicoot was one of the original PlayStation’s tentpole franchises back in the mid-late 90s, with the original trilogy and its kart spinoff, Crash Team Racing, developed by Naughty Dog. As such, the crate-bashing marsupial became something of an unofficial mascot for Sony during this time, although it wasn’t long before the series transition into multiplatform territory with a new developer at the helm.
