Pearl Abyss has offered a fresh look at its ambitious RPG Crimson Desert ahead of its March release, this time looking at the game’s combat and skill progression.
In the second Features Overview video, learn what it means to fight like a Greymane. From weapons to chaining skills, we look at how combat works in Crimson Desert. This episode will also cover how you’ll unlock skills, upgrade equipment, face the threats of Pywel, and grow into a formidable fighter.
Crimson Desert’s narrative follows Greymanes Kliff, Oongka, Yann, and Naira, during a period where Pywel is experiencing great tension and conflict among its people. This already fragile period is disrupted further by an attack by the Black Bears, a rival faction to the Greymanes, killing many of its members. In the aftermath, Kliff and the survivors are scattered, and so it’s up to him to reunite with his comrades and rebuild the Greymanes, before confronting the Myurdin, the leader of the Black Bears.
Announced in December 2020 during The Game Awards, Crimson Desert was originally positioned as a prequel to Black Desert Online, before evolving into a sprawling single-player experience that takes place in the same universe. PSU went hands-on with Crimson Desert last year, where we sampled a number of boss battles, so be sure to read our impressions here.
Crimson Desert launches for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 19, 2026.
