In a recent leak of source code from Reddit, it has seemingly been confirmed that cross-gen party chat will be available between PS5 and PS4 players once the PS5 launches in November around the world.

Web page source code on PlayStation’s official website revealed the interesting information as evidenced by the line below:

“Message and voice chat with friends across PS4, PS5 and PlayStation App.”

It is assumed that this is done on a system level, through a party chat app similarly to how it works on PS4, which isn’t a huge surprise. Other details revealed in this leak include details on PS5 backwards compatibility with PS4 games, along with a PS5 boost mode. We also got some of the first information on how PS5 game sharing will work on Sony’s next-generation console.

The PS5 releases on November 12, 2020, in the US and November 19, 2020, in the EU and UK.
