The CD Projekt RED cyber attack from earlier in the week has reportedly seen stolen data for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher sold following an auction on the dark web.
This includes the source code files for the RedEngine, as well as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a ray-traced edition of the fantasy-RPG, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and Cyberpunk 2077. Data was put up for sale on the dark web with an opening price of one million dollars as well as a ‘Buy Now’ option of seven million dollars.
However, an outside offer was made that was deemed to be satisfactory, according to the folks at cyber intelligence company, Kela.
CDPR announced that it had fallen victim to a cyber attack on Monday, with its internal systems having been compromised. The hackers, reportedly known as HelloKitty, demanded that the data would be sold or leaked if CDPR did not “come to an agreement” with the group.
