Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 & Phantom Liberty Are The Game’s ‘Last Big Updates’

Cyberpunk 2077 will not be receiving any further major updates, its director has revealed. As such, Update 2.0 for the base game and the recently-launched Phantom Liberty expansion will be the last substantial updates for the game.

CD Projekt RED isn’t stopping support for the game entirely; it will see be addressing any remaining issues with smaller updates, but don’t expect anything major to drop. Here’s what Gabe Amatangelo had to say during a chat with PC Gamer:

2.0 and Phantom Liberty are the last big updates. We’ll do a little something more, but those are the last big ones. Then it’s Cyberpunk 2. Or ‘Orion,’ I should say, whatever we end up naming it.

Recently CDPR issued an apology for the inclusion of anti-Russian statements and images in the Ukrainian version of Cyberpunk 2077. Looking ahead, the studio is working on a full-blown sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, known Project Orion, and last October it was revealed that the core team behind the first game and moved to the US to work on the sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, although the console version was plagued by bugs. Things improved greatly with the release of the native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release, with Update 2.0 adding a whole host of new features and improvements.
