Dan Houser Says Bully 2 Didn’t Happen Due To ‘Bandwidth Issues’

Speaking during an interview with Ryan McCaffrey during L.A. Comic-Con, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser shed light on why Bully 2 never happened, blaming the lack of a sequel on ‘bandwidth issues.’

I think it was just bandwidth issues. If you got a small lead creative and a small senior leadership crew, you just can’t do all the projects you want.

Bully 2 was reportedly in development in various stages over 15 years ago, but ended up being cancelled. However, back in 2022 it was revealed that the game would have featured a morality system similar to Red Dead Redemption, with a Game Informer article stating the game would have been about three times the size of the first Bully. What’s more, players could enter every building in the game either by legal means or forcing their way inside, and new climbing mechanics were included.

Leaker Tom Henderson previously claimed that Bully 2 was back in development a few years ago and suggested it could have been revealed during The Game Awards 2021 — that, sadly, never happened.

The original Bully was released in 2006, and was released in PAL regions as Canis Canem Edit (Latin for dog eat dog).
