Days Gone 2 Could Have Released 1 Month Ago, Says Director Jeff Ross

Jeff Ross, the director of Days Gone, has revealed in a Twitter post referencing the Playstation Showcase that Days Gone 2 could have been out last month “if we’d have just stuck to our guns.”

I get a little bummed out from these PlayStation Showcase shows because they only remind me we could of had Days Gone 2 out a month ago if we’d have just stuck to our guns.

Days Gone was released in April 2019 for the PS4 and takes the form of a post-apocalyptic action romp where players control biker enthusiast Deacon St. John, who finds himself battling against infected humans known as Freakers while attempting to forge a new life following the death of his wife.

Sony Bend did pitch a sequel to the game, but it was turned down and the company is now in the process of working on a new IP. Ross had previously described Days Gone 2 as the “definitive version” of the original, albeit with improved AI and other features.

John Garvin, another key member of the Days Gone team, controversially blamed the game’s poor reception on ‘woke reviewers‘ following his departure from Bend Studio. The company later released a statement saying it does not share Garvin’s opinions on Days Gone’s reception.
