The PS5 Darkplates sold by Canadian company Dbrand have already sold out in mere hours, meaning you won’t be able to get your hands on them until May at the earliest.
While typically known for its phone cases, Dbrand recently stepped into the PS5 market with matte black faceplates for the Disc Edition of Sony’s new home console. They’ll set you back $50, and plates for the Digital-Only Edition will also be made available at a later date.
Dbrand describes its plates as “a familiar-but-legally-distinct apocalyptic spin on the classic PlayStation button shapes.” While it hasn’t ruled out the possibility of selling other coloured faceplates, for now the company is focussed on matte black with “a curated array of middle skins.”

PS5 faceplate companies haven’t exactly had an easy ride the past few months, with PlateStation5 having been forced to change its name twice now due to legal threats from Sony. Meanwhile, SUP3R5, who was selling plates design on the PlayStation 2 hardware, appears to have disappeared altogether.
