Deep Down Trademark Renewed By Capcom

Capcom has renewed its trademark for Deep Down amid rumors of its cancellation, suggesting the project might not be quite as dead and buried as we initially thought.

Deep Down Set For PS5 Revival?

The trademark filing was made on June 19 (via TheGamePost), suggesting that Deep Down could still see the light of day at some point. Is Capcom possibly re-working the game for the PS5? Anything is possible, although the last we heard, the game was cancelled in a near-complete state for PS4.

If they are repositioning Deep Down for PS5, then presumably Capcom will have to give it a bit of an overhaul in terms of visuals, but the actual game itself should be almost finished if those reports are on the money.

Furthermore, Yoshinori Ono, the project’s lead, said last year that Capcom is not giving up on Deep Down, suggesting it may yet be released on new hardware.

Deep Down was originally announced for the PS4 during Sony’s New York City reveal event for the console in February 2013. It was also used to showcase the new Panta Rehi engine, although Capcom would ultimately brush this under the carpet in favour of the RE Engine.
