Activision has announced that it will reveal more Destiny 2 beta news during E3 2017 next week, fueling speculation that we’ll finally get a date for the playable teaser of its upcoming sci-fi shooter.
As Xur’s location is finally revealed in Destiny for June 2, the publishing behemoth said in a press release: “[L]ook for announcements about the Destiny 2 Open Beta during E3."
The Destiny 2 beta is scheduled to kick off at some point this summer. Those of you who fancy taking the game for a spin ahead of launch can sign up for the beta simply by pre-ordering Destiny 2, which also nets you early access. Fans are speculating that the beta will roll out on July 7, which has been colloquially labelled Bungie Day by gamers, though we’ll have to wait and see.

Destiny is pencilled in for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 8, 2017. The game takes place following the events of Destiny’s Rise of Iron expansion, and sees the Tower come under attack by a deadly Cabal unit known as The Red Legion. Consequently, Guardians have lost all their equipment in the attack, which is Bungie’s way of saying you won’t be able to transfer all your hard-earned loot for the sequel.
Bungie has confirmed a slew of new Destiny 2 features, including a revamped multiplayer focusing on 4v4 combat, and a more expansive open-world featuring side quests known as Adventures. Guardians will also be able to wield a bunch of new Super abilities in combat, plus take advantage of all-new exotic and legendary weapons to boot. Elsewhere, the studio confirmed that Grimoire Cards will not be returning for the sequel, and it appears the company hasn’t changed its stance on matchmaking either.
