Destiny 2 classes are still a mystery, but expect new sub-classes

Following the Destiny 2 trailer reveal, and the subsequent information handed to us by Bungie, we already know some details about the sci-fi shooter sequel, but there’s still a lot of outstanding information fans are waiting to hear about as we head towards the Destiny 2 release date.

One of the items hot on the lips of fans are the Destiny 2 classes, and whether Bungie will introduce new classes. What we have learnt from the trailer and cover art is that three classes from the original game will definitely make an appearance:

  • Hunter
  • Titan
  • Warlock

It makes sense as these three classes tie in very tightly with Destiny lore, but we’d like to think that Bungie will at least switch things up again with new sub-classes.

Within the Destiny 2 reveal trailer was the following statement, which we think sheds some light on whether that will happen:

"He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities."

Though the statement doesn’t directly reveal anything, it does suggest that Guardians will discover “devastating new combat abilities.” Whether this will be new sub-classes in addition to existing sub-classes, such as Sunsinger, Bladedancer and Striker, remains to be seen, but it seems fairly certain that Bungie will introduce a new set of sub-classes in Destiny 2.

In other Destiny 2 news, a PS4 beta was confirmed as well as some details about the upcoming DLC expansion pass. The Destiny 2 release date has been confirmed for September 8, 2017.
