Bungie has hinted that we might see Xur, Agent of the Nine and The Cryptarch’s roles expanded for 2017’s Destiny 2.
Speaking during an interview with GamesBeat, Scott Taylor, Executive Producer on Destiny’s upcoming Rise of Iron expansion, suggested the studio is going to flesh out existing characters for the shared-world shooter’s follow-p.
Asked if players will learn more about the likes of Xur and The Cryptarch going forward, Taylor replied:
“We’re trying to create these opportunities, and then the expansions are a great place to dive in. You see Cayde and you smile now because you know who Cayde is. I feel like I have a good sense of who Eris is. After this release you’ll know about Saladin, and we’re introducing more characters in the new social space that we hope people are curious about too.”
Destiny 2 is scheduled for a release in 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Rise of Iron is due to launch for current-generation platforms only on September 20, and marks Destiny’s fourth major expansion to date.
