Bungie has announced the winner of the first Destiny 2 Faction Rallies event, with Dead Orbit taking the crown.
The gothic-inspired space group beat out competition from fellow factions New Monarchy and Future War Cult.
Dead Orbit’s victory means that those who pledged their allegiance to the group can pick Haunted Earth (Scout Rifle) from their vendor. It costs 1000 Glimmer for supporters, while everyone else will have to fork out a whopping 50,000 Glimmer.
The Destiny 2 Faction Rallies launched in late September and has been running for the past week. Gamers could pledge their loyalty to any one of the three groups during this time, with each faction offering a specific weapon if they emerge victorious.
However, the general consensus among Destiny 2 fans is that Dead Orbit wasn’t the favorite to win. The Scout Rifle up for grabs isn’t quite as impressive as the other prizes up for grabs, and the group isn’t as highly regarded among fans as Future War Cult, for example.
"You may notice evidence of who won the first Faction Rally in Destiny 2 as you make your way back to the Tower,” Bungie Tweeted. "Congratulations, Dead Orbit. Thanks to all who played in support of their favorite faction. There is always next time!"
The next Destiny 2 Faction Rally has yet to be dated, although it is believed they will happen on a semi-regular basis. This is a major shakeup from the original game, where all three factions were available at any time.
For now, gamers have the first Destiny 2 Iron Banner event to look forward to, which kicks off this month.
