Following the launch of Destiny 2 Forsaken, the servers have been at capacity resulting in numerous errors for players. Destiny 2 capacity issues began following the release of the latest DLC on Tuesday.
Due to the original game being made free for PlayStation Plus members this month, and the launch of Forsaken, there’s been a huge boost in players attempting to get on the Bungie servers. The error message means that the servers are at capacity, meaning there’s no room for you to play right now.
Sadly, there’s no quick fix. This doesn’t happen very often, so you should have to wait to long to get back into Destiny 2. If the problem doesn’t seem to be going away, check in at the official Bungie help section on their website.
If you’re playing on Xbox One, there have been issues with the Xbox Live servers, so this would also be affecting the Destiny 2 servers.
Also, make sure you’ve downloaded the latest Destiny 2 update 2.0.0.1, which also launched yesterday. Bungie is aware of the issue, tweeting:

Update 2: The release date for the Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC is here. Ushering in a new chapter for Bungie’s shooter, content will go live later today on September 4. So, find out what you should dismantle before the release of Forsaken, and check out what time the fun begins.
When Does Forsaken Come Out?
In terms of launch times, Destiny 2 Forsaken should be available some time shortly after 7am PDT/3pm BST. Prior to that they’ll be a hotfix (2.0.0.1). During this time the Destiny 2 servers will be down.
Here’s the full schedule for today:
- 7:00 AM PDT: Players will no longer be able to log in to Destiny 2. Players leaving activities will be returned to the title screen. Hotfix 2.0.0.1 will begin rolling out across all platforms and regions.
- 7:30 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will be taken offline for maintenance, and all remaining players will be returned to the title screen.
- 7:30-10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will remain offline for maintenance.
- 10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude, and Destiny 2: Forsaken will become available to play on all platforms.
To join in the fun, you’ll need to have bought Forsaken as a standalone purchases as it’s not part of the Season Pass. Alongside a new story, there’s a new Patrol destination called The Tangled Shore and a new Gambit game mode in both PvP and PvE.
Each sub-class gets a new super, weapons have been tweaked and players will be able to enjoy a new Raid in the Dreaming City. For more details, check out the Bungie website.
