Bungie has announced that the Destiny 2 Iron Banner event will kick off for the sequel in October.

In October, new challenges will continue to arrive, including Iron Banner[…],” the former Halo developer confirmed.

The hard-as-nails PvP event sees Guardians competing against each other with level and power stats taken into consideration, so the more you’re packing in terms of weapons and armor, the better.

Iron Banner has been a monthly staple of the original Destiny for some time now, although the event bowed out with one final week back in August. As such, Iron Banner can now only be found in Destiny 2.

What isn’t yet known is how Iron Banner will work in terms of rewards and game modes, seeing as how the Crucible has been revamped into 4v4 matches split between Quick Play and Competitive arenas.

Still, Guardians have the Trials of the Nine to look forward to first, which debuts on a weekly rotation basis between Countdown and Survival modes from September 15. In addition, it’s worth remembering that the Destiny Raid will be rolled out even sooner on September 13.

Destiny 2 was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017. Sadly, the game experienced some pesky teething issues, with server issues and various error codes scuppering a smooth launch.

Fans have also taken exception to the Destiny 2 microtransactions feature, with many complaining of the use of one-time Shaders. Bungie, however, has stood by its decision to switch up this item for the sequel.

Join us right now for the Hunt for Xur, as the enigmatic Agent of the Nine is set to make his Destiny 2 debut later this morning. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on what we find!
