Destiny 2 will have an incredible amount of cutscenes

Destiny 2 will place a greater emphasis on narrative, and as such includes a far greater amount of cutscenes than its predecessor, the game’s senior narrative lead has confirmed.

Tons of Destiny 2 cutscenes

Speaking during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Jason Harris revealed that the alien shooter will support a total of 52 cutscenes to support its ambitious storyline. By comparison, the original Destiny had around 45 cutscenes, and that figure includes its numerous expansions, so it sounds like we’re for a treat with the sequel.

Destiny 2 story expanded

Recently, Bungie admitted that it hopes people actually complain about the amount of story content that is in Destiny 2, representing a complete turn around from the original game, where gamers criticised the shared-world shooter for its lack of a cohesive narrative.

This was compounded by the fact Bungie neglected much of its deeper lore into online-based Grimoire Cards; something which the studio has pleasingly confirmed will not be repeated for Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 release date confirmed

Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, with a PC version following in late October. The game takes place following the events of Rise of Iron, and sees the Guardians’ stronghold, the Tower, come under attack by a Cabal-lead unit known as The Red Legion.

Sadly, this means players will lose all their hard-earned loot and gear as a result of the Cabal’s attack, meaning you’ll only be able to transfer any cosmetic tweaks for your character(s) to the sequel.

Bungie has been hosting the Destiny 2 open beta for the past few days, with early access kicking off at the beginning of last week. The teaser, which has been expanded to Tuesday, offers a glimpse at the opening mission, Homecoming, plus some Crucible matches and a look at the Inverted Spire Strike.
