Speaking during an interview with Metro UK, Bungie’s Steve Cotton suggested that matchmaking for Destiny’s raids may still happen at some point down the line.
Cotton said that Bungie is constantly listening to the shared-world shooter’s fanbase, and implementing new features when they are likely to make the biggest impact.

“We are absolutely listening, and we’re absolutely thinking about stuff, and we are also absolutely prioritizing the things that we want to do. So we’ve prioritized, in a lot of cases, giving players new adventures and new experiences. And then things like private matches, this is the right time to bring that into the game. So, I think it’s just about us trying to make the things that we think are the most impactful for each release. And constantly looking at stuff that people are talking about," he said.
Asked specifically about raid matchmaking, he added, “[It’s not off the cards.] We’ve been thinking about that a lot.”
Destiny is approaching its two-year anniversary, having originally launched on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 back in September 2014. To date, the game has seen three major expansion: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King.
Bungie will follow that up with the launch of Destiny: Rise of Iron on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One. The DLC offers a host of new content, such as a new raid, story missions, armor, and weapons.
Activision announced earlier this year that Destiny 2 is currently in development and will launch at some point in 2017.
