Quantic Dream has provided a new Detroit: Become Human PS4 update, confirming the highly anticipated adventure title will be present at Gamescom later this month.
The developer announced on Twitter that gamers will be able to experience the “Hostage” demo of Detroit at the PlayStation Booth. No further details were revealed, although we imagine this is the same demo that was previously showcased at previous events such as E3.
Quantic Dream previously confirmed the Detroit: Become Human release date for 2018, although an exact launch window has not yet been determined. The game will reportedly last around 8-10 hours.
For those who are out of the loop, Gamescom takes place August 22-25, 2017 in Cologne, Germany, and remains one of the biggest gaming events on the planet, regularly attracting thousands of visitors annually.
Detroit: Become Human is the first major project from Quantic Dream since the launch of Beyond: Two Souls for the PS3 in 2013. The game is based off the Kara tech demo from 2012, and takes place in the bustling Michigan metropolis in the near future, where androids are employed by humans to carry out menial, everyday tasks.
The game is being directed by David Cage, who helmed both Heavy Rain and Beyond, and features a script that took more than two years to pen. The game adheres to the decision-making gameplay of Quantic’s previous works, with no rudimentary ‘game over’ scenario as gamers are forced to live with the choices they make, even if key characters meet a premature demise.
So far the Detroit’s cast is made of Kara (Valorie Curry), Connor (Bryan Dechart) and Markus (Jesse Williams), with multiple characters playable throughout the story.
On a side note, if you haven’t already sampled either Heavy Rain or Beyond yet, you can pick them up both for the PS4 in remastered form. Be sure to read our Detroit: Become Human impressions while you’re at it.
