Speaking during an interview with GameRant, LucasFilm representatives have confirmed that we haven’t seen the last of Cal Kestis, the lead protagonist of the Star Wars Jedi video games.
While it was previously confirmed by developer Respawn that Star Wars Jedi Survivor wasn’t the end of the franchise, we haven’t heard anything about a third game since that time. Speaking about the future of Cal, the rep stated, “Never say never. We’ve got his lightsaber in the park. We’ve got more Cal stories coming.”
Back in September 2024, Laura Miele, head of EA Entertainment division, revealed that the next chapter in the Star Wars Jedi franchise would be “the final” instalment of the series. She also pointed out at the time that the Star Wars Jedi franchise was the most successful video games ever based on the Star Wars IP, attracting more than 40 million players worldwide.
In related news, Cameron Monaghan, the actor who portrays Cal Kestis in the series, revealed during FanExpo Vancouver 2024 that he would be interested in playing the character in a live action movie. “It would have to be right. By that, I mean it has to continue the story or the character in some way,” he noted at the time.
The year before, Monaghan revealed during an appearance at Ocala Comic Con that the third entry in the Star Wars Jedi franchise was in development, stating, “We’re working on a third and we’re in the process of doing that right now.” Respawn, however, did not confirm anything at the time.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in November 2019, and received a spruced up re-release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in June 2021. Star Wars Jedi Survivor followed for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in April 2023, and to the surprise of many, was ported to PS4 and Xbox One in September 2024.
