The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT closed beta will kick off on August 26 and run until September 4, publisher Square Enix announced today.
Those of you who are interested in taking the upcoming fighting game for a spin can register for the closed beta here, although you only have until August 15 to do so. If you’re lucky enough to be selected for the teaser, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the beta.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT’s beta allows you to experience three-versus-three battles as iconic characters from Square Enix’s venerable JRPG franchise. Furthermore, you’ll compete in familiar locations plucked from the series, as well as utilising powerful attacks and summons, including Ifrit, Shiva, and Odin.
Elsewhere, Square Enix also confirmed that Jecht, the Final Fantasy X villain and Blitzball aficionado, will be fully playable in the full version of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT when it launches early next year. Note that this character will not be featured in the closed beta.
This latest instalment in the popular Final Fantasy brawler series takes place some time after the events of the previous two games, and focuses on the conflict between the Goddess of Protection (Materia) and God of Destruction (Spiritus).
The game will introduce a number of new characters, including Ace, Noctis, and Ramza, as well as returning favourites such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Lightning, Tidus, and Squall Leonhart.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT was originally released in Japanese arcades back in late 2015, and will hit PlayStation 4 in early 2018 in Europe and North America. The home console release will feature a dedicated story campaign not seen in the original version.
