Square Enix has provided an in-depth look at the characters featured in its hotly anticipated action-RPG, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below for PlayStation 4.
Check it out below.
Dragon Quest Heroes is scheduled to ship on PS4 in the U.S. on October 13, priced at $59.99. Gamers can opt for the Day-One Edition of the game, which includes five in-game items, or the $99.99 Slime Collector’s Edition, which features a premium treasure box and a host of other physical goodies. The story kicks off when a dark cloud falls over the city of Arba, driving the once peaceful monsters into a frenzied rage. As either the hero, Luceus, or the heroine, Aurora, the player joins forces with an iconic cast from previous DRAGON QUEST titles to bring the rampaging hordes of monsters to their senses and restore order to the kingdom.
The game doffs its cap to Dynasty Warriors in the sense it features high-paced, hack-‘n-slash style gameplay, although Dragon Quest Heroes stands firmly on its two feet despite these similarities. The game features RPG elements allowing your character to apply points to upgrade various attributes, and you’re encouraged to switch between characters (done simply by pressing a dedicated button) to take advantage of each one’s unique abilities. We went hands-on with Dragon Quest Heroes recently and came away quite impressed to say the least, as you can see from our summary below:
"My time with the game ended with a massive boss fight against a towering Cyclops, which required vigilant use of all four characters’ attacks to maximise combat efficiency. Overall, my two hours spent with Dragon Quest Heroes left a lasting impression, with Omega Force offering up a vibrant, addictive and humorous hack-’n-slash title that is shaping up mighty fine indeed. If the rest of the game is as compelling as the first couple of hours, then there’s no doubt we’re on to a winner."
