Yuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest franchise, has revealed during a livestream with radio group show KosoKoso Hso Kyoku that the highly anticipated Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate is still in development, despite the lack of info on the project.
There’s not much to go on, other than the team is “working hard on Dragon Quest 12,” but at least it’s something considering we haven’t heard anything on the game in quite a while. Horri last touched base on the upcoming RPG last May, when he said that he wants it to be ‘something worthy of the posthumous work of the two [Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama] who passed away.”

Dragon Quest XII: The Flame of Fate was announced during the series’ 35th anniversary stream in May 2021, after which it was confirmed that the game will utilise the Unreal Engine 5.
