DualSense Edge Reportedly Getting A New Model Release In 2027

Filings on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning to release a revised model of the DualSense Edge controller in 2027.

The DualSense Edge currently has a model number of CFI-ZCP1, but the filings list an updated CFI-ZCP2 model. However, it’s not expected be anything earth-shattering in terms of changes. Speculation has suggested that we’re looking at easier access to the controller’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which makes it easier to replace.

The change would mean the DualSense Edge would comply with the European Union’s Right to Repair directive, which requires consumer electronic manufacturer’s allow users to replace the rechargeable battery in a device on their own, without having to send it back to the maker.

The DualSense Edge features changeable stick modules and stick caps, as well as mappable back buttons that users can configure to any other button input and adjustable trigger lengths. In addition, the pad has been designed with input from developers and pro gamers, and features the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers seen in the regular DualSense controller.
