Back in June, EA’s Tammy Schachter told PSU.com that they had shelved the PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3, instead moving focus to PC and Xbox 360 development.
"The PS3 is a powerful platform that would be a great fit for an RTS game in the future," said EA’s Tammy Schachter. "Development of Red Alert 3 for PS3 has been put on hold. EA LA is focusing resources on development for PC and Xbox 360 which will ship simultaneously this fall."
In a recent talk with Videogamer.com, EA LA producer Amer Ajami further explained the PS3 version’s predicament and why EA delayed the development of the title until a later time.
"We actually announced a PS3 version early on but that was when we were still doing a lot of technical exploration of the architecture," said Ajami. "[The] PS3 is a very powerful system but as you guys know it’s very exotic and tough to develop for and our engine really at the time wasn’t designed for PS3."
Ajami finished the dicussion by stating that EA LA "might go back and do something with the PS3 later on." With the Command and Conquer series being one of the best RTS franchises in the genre, it would be a shame not to see Red Alert 3 come to the PS3.
