Eight PSOne Games That (Might Not) Be A Good Fit For PSVR

G-Police PSVR

Even though the humble PSOne is now far in the past there are still a number of awesome games that have never been properly remastered or remade on any iteration of PlayStation that has followed it.

And so, with that in mind, we’ve come up with eight games that we think would be a great *cough* fit for resurrection on PSVR, rather than just being remade with prettier visuals for the base PS4 console.

Onward!

Eight PSOne Games That Would Be A Perfect Fit For PSVR (Ahem)

Bushido Blade

Right, bear with me here. I actually think that played with dual Move Motion controllers, Bushido Blade could be pretty spiffing on PSVR. I mean, shift the action to a first person perspective, swing the wands about as if they were ACTUALLY SWORDS and use the motion stick to move you about and we’re basically there – right? Oh come on, you’d all love this.

Colony Wars

Although Colony Wars would be a fine fit for the standard PS4, just think what the experience could be like with PSVR. The potential for immersion would go through the roof – just imagine it; dogfighting with scores of enemy craft as you dodge and weave between hulking capital ships as laser blasts and missiles whoosh past you.

Essentially, it would be like a fully-fleshed out version of the superb Star Wars Rogue One VR mission EA released for Star Wars Battlefront. At least that’s how I’m imagining it right now anyway.

Exhumed/Powerslave

A first-person shooter that has you raiding tombs and confronting angry Egyptian gods, Exhumed would be great on PSVR. Just the sheer atmospherics of rooting around monster-stuffed, ancient tombs would be worth it alone, while control-wise, Exhumed on PSVR could easily take a leaf (or the whole tree) from DOOM VFR’s book. Plus, I *really* miss Exhumed too.

G-Police

Of perhaps all the games in this article, G-Police is the one that seemingly would be the best fit for PSVR. With its stylish first-person cockpit perspective, neon-lit cyberpunk metropolis and fast-paced shooter action, it boggles the mind as to why G-Police isn’t already a thing on PSVR. Handily, putting G-Police on PSVR might also shut up the two people (including me), that are asking for the thing – and that’s why I guess it won’t ever get made. Crap.

Hogs of War

A quirky turn-based strategy title that popped up as the PSOne was in its twilight years, Hogs of War could be a lot o’ fun in PSVR. Imagine a fully 3D battlefield that you could look around, allowing you to peer over and under bridges, buildings and other elements in the environment. Also, all of the lines that the late Rik Mayall recorded for the game would have to be remastered too or NO DEAL.

Jumping Flash!

An offbeat platformer played out from a first-person perspective, Jumping Flash! would seem to be a properly great fit for PSVR. As a robotic rabbit that can jump to insane heights before plummeting back down to earth, players are tasked with not only destroying obviously evil anthropomorphic robots, animals and plants but also collecting jet pods in order to proceed onto the next stage.

If a version of Jumping Flash! ever does get made for PSVR though, it should almost certainly come with some sort of motion sickness warning though. Cripes.

Magic Carpet

Though the chance of this ever being remade is slim to none, one can but fantasize about how it might translate to PSVR. Imagine it, you’re in the midst of building your castle in order to soak up all the mana in the world, but then you spy an enemy wizard (also straddling an enchanted rug) out of the corner of your eye. Before you know it you’re swooping and diving through all manner of canyons, caves and cliffs as you duel with your foe – hopefully not chucking up your food in the process. I’d play that.

Time Crisis

Look, Time Crisis would be sublime in PSVR. Just imagine using the PS Aim controller as you duck behind cover, popping up to blast evil dudes while the immersive possibilities provided by PSVR allow for some truly stunning set-pieces also. I mean, why has this not happened? Time Crisis in VR (or any light gun game, really) would seem like the most absolute no-brainer of no-brainer things in the world.

And that’s it! Can you lot think of any older PlayStation titles would be great if reborn on PSVR? Let us know in the comments!
