Ahead of June 2024, anyone could’ve guessed that Elden Ring was going to have a strong sales month thanks to its new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree releasing the same month – but you might not have guessed just how strong of a month it would have.
In the US alone, per Circana executive director and industry advisor for video games Mat Piscatella, no only did Elden Ring have a good month of sales, it was the top-selling premium game across all possible platforms.
Not only did it top sales charts on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but it shot up from 20th position to 5th place for best selling game in the US for 2024. The rest of the top five though hadn’t changed from May 2024, with Helldivers 2 still firmly in the top spot followed by Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, then Dragon’s Dogma 2, then MLB The Show 24.
It even made it into the top 10 list of games played on PlayStation in the US for June 2024, a list based on monthly active users (MAU) that is almost always at least half-stacked with free-to-play titles. On PC (Steam), it was the number one played game for the month based on MAU.
