PlayStation 4 enjoyed another victory over the Xbox One in the U.S. last month, but it was the multiformat juggernaut Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that dominated software sales in November 2015, beating out even the critically acclaimed Fallout 4.
Despite Sony nabbing exclusive content rights away from Microsoft for Call of Duty, something which Xbox owners have enjoyed for a number of years now, the Xbox One edition still managed to outsell the PS4 version of the military shooter.
In addition, sales of Black Ops 3 also managed to beat last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which seems to suggest that franchise fatigue hasn’t quite set in yet. No doubt Activision’s chuffed with itself. Meanwhile, Star Wars Battlefront performed better in its first week than the 2008 sci-fi outing, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, beating the PS3 and Xbox 360 title’s sales by 21 percent.
The PS4 has sold 30.2 million units worldwide since its launch alongside the Xbox One in November 2013. In the U.K., the platform’s sales are already tracking ahead of the PS2, which to date remains the best-selling home console of all time. Furthermore, retailers in the country are already predicting that Sony’s current-generation console will dominate the hardware battle in 2016.
