According to a report on Digital Foundry, Bethesda’s Fallout 4 may suffer from some rather dodgy frame rate issues on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with instances of the game’s performance dropping to the low 20s.
Digital Foundry’s dissection of the post-apocalyptic RPG on YouTube found that Fallout 4’s frame rate “can drop to the low 20 FPS line on PS4 and Xbox One." Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, U.S., some 200 years after a nuclear war devastated the country, and like Fallout 3, players will emerge from the confines of the Vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by feral creatures and other hazards. Fallout 4 utilizes the Creation Engine, which was previously responsible for powering The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on last-generation consoles, though it has been modified for new hardware. Unlike previous entries in the Fallout franchise, this latest title will include full voice acting for the player character, the ‘Sole Survivor,’ and feature branching dialogue paths similar to the Mass Effect series.
