A recent Famitsu survey’s revealed that a substantial chunk of its readers are eager to get their hands on Sony’s swanky Next Generation Portable (NGP).
Specifically, a whopping 76.2 percent of the publication’s audience – who are primarily hardcore gamers – said they were planning on buying the handheld, while only 7.9 percent admitted they weren’t interested in purchasing the pint-sized platform. 15.9 percent, meanwhile, couldn’t say either way.
Quite how this will translate into sales remains to be seen – after all, Sony’s yet to lift the lid on that all-important price tag. Nonetheless, PSP has remained a consistently strong performer in the Land of the Rising Sun, giving NGP a suitable springboard.
Elsewhere, the survey also turned up some interesting results as to what Japanese consumers found so appealing about the device. Apparently, 50 percent admitted to digging the look of NGP, while 22.6 described themselves as fans of its aesthetics. Unsurprisingly, folk also tended to gravitate towards the platform’s twin analogue sticks and visual prowess.
In terms of pricing, 42.5 percent of Famitsu readers reckoned the PSP successor would retail for less than 30,000 yen ($363), while 17 percent felt it will cost less than 25,000 ($303). 5 percent, however, put the price of NGP at lower than either of the above amounts.
