Far Cry 3 rumors heat up

The Far Cry 3 rumor wagon has started to pick up the pace again this week, with yet more evidence pertaining to a third entry in the FPS series unearthed by Internet super sleuth Superannuation.

According to the eagle-eyed blogger, the CV of stuntman Lee Villeneuve gives mention of a third entry in the popular actioner, as does Stephane Julien’s resume.

Elsewhere, Michael Khabrov, a programmer for Ubisoft, mentions on LinkedIn that he’s currently involved in the development of an “Undisclosed First Person Shooter” for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 featuring “exotic gameplay,” “scripted events” and “cinematics.”

Ubisoft animation and AI engineer Miguel Angel Sepulveda labels his current endeavour as an “Unannounced action AAA” game for PS3 and Xbox 360, while 3D animator Marc Echave explicitly lists Far Cry 3 among other previously confirmed Ubisoft titles.

Murmurs of Far Cry 3 date back to November 2009, when Ubisoft writer Kevin Shortt told the chaps at OPM UK that the company was indeed working on a new entry in the series. Furthermore, last August a number of Swedish retailers put up a listing online for a Far Cry 3 Collector’s Edition release.

Of course, Ubisoft’s keeping mum on the whole affair, though with E3 just around the corner, we hopefully won’t have to wait long to find out if the rumors carry any weight. Stay tuned.
