Chart-Track has announced that Far Cry 4, the open-world shooter from Ubisoft, has become the fast-selling entry in the franchise to date in the U.K.
The sequel debuted at no.2 on the All Format Charts, with the PlayStation 4 version taking the lion’s share of sales with 49 percent of all copies sold on Sony’s new home console. Meanwhile, Xbox One took a 30 percent share, Xbox 360 11 percent, and PS3 with just six percent.
Sales figures for the game were not divulged, however Chart-Track notes that Far Cry 4 is “by far the most successful” launch the franchise has enjoyed to date.
Ubisoft previously predicted a strong opening for the sandbox title, with the French publisher’s Brand Manager, Wayne Greenwell, telling MCV that, "weekly pre-orders [for Far Cry 4] continue to track strongly and are above those of Far Cry 3, showing that Far Cry is now a brand which has caught the attention and imagination of the UK market."
