According to a listing on GameStop, the Far Cry 5 release date could already be set for Fall 2017.
The retail giant has listed the as-yet unannounced open-world adventure game for release on November 26, 2017. It’s worth noting that this date is in fact a Sunday, which likely means it’s simply a placeholder. However, it does appear that Far Cry 5 is on the horizon; when contacted by SG Gaming, a local GameStop confirmed that the SKU code quoted is indeed attached to the game.
However, when emailing the retailer’s support department with the SKU code, the site generated the following response: “Unfortunately we are out of stock of Far Cry 5 for the PS4 and can’t guarantee more stock will be made available again to us from the vendor.”
Interestingly, this development seemingly goes against previous comments from Ubisoft, who last year suggested we may not see a new Far Cry or Assassin’s Creed in 2017.
As mentioned, Ubisoft has yet to officially unveil a fifth numbered entry in its long-running action-adventure franchise, with the last game being the spin-off title Far Cry Primal back in February 2016. Prior to that, Far Cry 4 continued the mainline series in 2014 and achieved both critical and commercial success for the French publisher, shipping over seven million copies by the end of that year alone.
