Final Fantasy 7 Remake developer Square Enix has revealed in a new interview with Famitsu magazine that the character of Roche will probably turn up in the next game, and that he was originally due to have a battle in Chapter 14.
New Final Fantasy 7 Remake Details Reveal Cut Battle & More
Here’s what co-director Motomu Toriyama had to say about the character:
Roche was going to appear in the last battle, but it ruined the serious tone, so we got rid of it. We had the idea for a battle in the slums in Chapter 14, but gave up on that as there are no roads to ride motorcycles in the slums. He’s a character that leaves a huge impression from first sight, so his chances of coming back in the sequel is high.
In addition, the team also touched on why the massage scene with Madam M didn’t go any further, as it would have resulted in the game’s age rating being bumped up.
As for the hand massages [in Wall Market], if we did anything risky in that town, the rating would have most likely gone up, so that was probably the most we could do.
In the same interview, the team also revealed that development has fully kicked off for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, although they still don’t know when the project will be released. As such, don’t expect to see it in action anytime soon.
