Final Fantasy Type-0 fan’s English translation shut down by ‘certain game company’

The fan-lead English translation of Final Fantasy Type-0 has been taken down due to "threats and false accusations."

Project head Sky, under the name Sky Blade Cloud, delivered an official statement on the matter on his project site, indicating with vague language that certain things were said that forced the shutdown of the translation project.

Sky’s official statement goes as follows:

"Unfortunately I’m forced to remove my posts and pages related to the popular Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation project. That’s right, certain game company thinks that threats and false accusations are the way to treat its biggest fans. For the time being I can’t answer questions related to this matter, but I’ll write a more comprehensive post about all this once I get the chance."

Incidentally, the project was never dethroned  until after this year’s E3, and in hindsight, any action taken against the team could have raised questions about a re-release project. However, Sky and his translation team have been forced to take down all their work now that the localized console version of Final Fantasy Type-0 is official.

There are different aspects to this scenario that must be observed: fans of the title have felt left behind by Square Enix, so they took it upon themselves to deliver a game they love to other devoted fans of the series. Then, there’s the side of Square Enix, which holds the rights to the contents of the Final Fantasy Type-0 game itself.

Sky indicated that he’ll release more information in the near future regarding what specifically took place, but until then, statements including "threats and false accusations" leave a lot of negativity around a localization that a myriad of fans have longed to play in their native language.
