Final Fantasy V U.S. release outed via ESRB listing

A listing on the Entertainment Software Rating Board’s official website has outed the U.S. release of Final Fantasy V for PlayStation 3/PlayStation Portable.

The retro-tastic RPG has previously been confirmed for release in Japan and Europe, so news of a North American launch shouldn’t exactly come as a surprise.

Originally released on the Super Nintendo, this downloadable PSN update throws in all-new CG sequences, though otherwise remains a faithful conversion of the early 90s classic.

See below for the full skinny on the game’s story.

"One day, the Tycoon King, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes.

"In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle.”

"Unbeknownst to them, this event is about to bring four people from different walks of life together on a common journey filled with new encounters and many mysteries."
