Final Fantasy VII Revelation Will Show Up At GamesCom Opening Night Live

GamesCom Opening Night Live will play host to a new look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation with game director Naoki Hamaguchi, Square Enix has announced.

We don’t have to wait too long to get our next look at the game, as GameCom ONL takes place on August 25, 2026 at 2PM EST/7PM BST.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2027, which is quite appropriate given that next year is the 30th anniversary of the original version of Final Fantasy VII.

Hamaguchi-san has been doing a lot of interviews with the gaming press as of late, so we’ve been getting quite a few interesting details to digest. Speaking with Automaton-Media, the game director revealed that his goal is to make FFVII Revelation an experience that sees players feel, “‘I’m glad they made the Remake series’ or ‘I’m glad I was able to see the FF7 Remake series through to the end.'”

Chatting in a separate interview with GamesRadar, Hamaguchi revealed that the job system in FFVII Revelation, known as FITS, will be limited to four jobs per character. In addition, he revealed to Automanton-Media that any potential DLC for the game will focus on ‘untold‘ stories of its cast, as the main game will conclude the story.
