Final Fantasy XII remake ‘underway,’ says Distant Worlds concert conductor

At the end of the Distant Worlds Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh this Saturday evening, conductor Arnie Roth stated a remake of the PlayStation 2 game Final Fantasy XII is in development.

As heard in the video, Roth announced, “And, there’s a Final Fantasy XII remake underway too, that’s coming out soon” and reportedly motioned to Final Fantasy XII composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, who was in attendance at the concert.

No official confirmation has arrived from Square Enix. Roth may have spoke too early or misspoke by saying remake, when Final Fantasy XII may be getting an HD remaster treatment like Final Fantasy X & X-2 did.

Final Fantasy brand manager and producer Shinji Hashimoto mentioned last December that additional Final Fantasy games may come to PlayStation 4, saying, “Actually, not limited to just X/X-2, we’re currently thinking of setting [a way] to have other past Final Fantasy titles playable on the PS4.”

At Sony’s PlayStation E3 2015 press conference, a remake of Final Fantasy VII was announced and shocked the gaming world.

Could an announcement of a Final Fantasy XII remake or remaster be on the horizon, especially at the upcoming Gamescom 2015?
