Final Fantasy XV Chapter 0 detailed

Square Enix has provided some tantalising new details on the opening segment of Final Fantasy XV, known as Chapter 0.

According to reports hot off the press, Final Fantasy XV Chapter 0 acts as a ‘cold open’ to the hotly anticipated JRPG, where a group of battle-knackered folk sloug it out with a massive, demon-like king on a burning throne.

While hero Noctis is present, he’s notably in a bad way, his features gaunt and his hair unkempt, while his clothes have seen better days; in other words, a far cry from the pristine prince we’ve become accustomed to.

Noctis is flanked by Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus, although the light-hearted nature that we’ve seen from previous builds of the game is conspicuously missing. In its place is a far more serious tone, as the four chums huddle away from their attacker and fight to stay alive.

Final Fantasy XV is scheduled for release on November 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, having been delayed from its original ship date of September 30.

The project has taken over a decade to materialise, having originally been announced way back at E3 2006 for the PlayStation 3. Back then, the game was known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, although after sporadic updates on the title, Square Enix re-revealed the game with a new title during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference.

Final Fantasy XV differs from many of its predecessors in the sense it adopts a more action-oriented approach to gameplay, though long-time fans will be pleased to see the return of an authentic open-world to explore stuffed full of side activities.
