Square Enix has lifted the wraps off the official North American box art for Final Fantasy XV.
You can check out the PlayStation 4 version below, which comes with the ‘Day One Edition’ branding that’s been popping up in the majority of games as of late.
Final Fantasy XV is scheduled to ship worldwide for PS4 and Xbox One on September 30, 2016.
The game has been a long time coming, having originally been announced back at E3 2006 as the PlayStation 3-exclusive spinoff, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. At the time, it was to form part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series of games that made up the story arc and universe of Final Fantasy XIII.
However, after lengthy periods of silence on the game, Square Enix re-revealed the title as Final Fantasy XV for current-generation systems as Sony’s E3 2013 press event, alongside the equally long-elusive Kingdom Hearts III.
The Japanese publishing behemoth later revealed that development on Versus XIII was scrapped at around the 25 percent complete mark some time in 2012. While the likes of Noctis survived the transition to FFXV, some elements, such as the character of Stella, did not make the cut.
