Final Fantasy XVI Has “Entered The Home Stretch” In Its Development

Final Fantasy XVI just got a brand new trailer that premiered today, showing off a more lore-focused trailer as development chugs along.

And speaking of its development, following the trailer’s premiere, director Hiroshi Takai and producer Naoki Yoshida published statements through the official Final Fantasy XVI Twitter account.

According to Yoshida, even though release is not scheduled until next summer, the team working on it have “turned the corner and entered the home stretch, and is currently concentrating its efforts on debugging, tweaking, polishing, and optimization.”

It’s an important milestone in the process of a games development, and it’s great to see Final Fantasy XVI hit this point now, giving Square Enix and its development team plenty of time to go focus on making sure it’s ready for launch.

Takai also expressed Yoshida’s excitement about Final Fantasy XVI nearing closer to completion.

“Now that things are starting to come together,” Takai said, “the game is sizing up to be something truly special.”
