Liquid Swords Reportedly Declared Bankrupt After Staff Went Unpaid For Months

Liquid Swords, the developer behind Samson, has reportedly been declared bankrupt after failing to pay its staff for a number of months.

That’s according to Break It, which claims that the bankruptcy trustee is looking for a buyer as the state moves to compensate the company’s employees, which totals nearly 30 people. The news follows the release of Samson for the PC in April, which despite its ambitions was plagued by various technical issues. The game would later release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last month.

Liquid Swords was founded by Christofer Sundberg back in December 2020 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Previously, Sundberg had worked on the Just Cause franchise at Avalanche Studios.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story focuses on the titular character as he returns to the city of Tyndalston after a heist in St. Louis doesn’t go as planned. However, Samson’s sister, Oonagh is held by the St. Louis gang as collateral for his debts, and is therefore forced to team up with his old gang leader, his right-hand man, and friend to take on jobs to pay off the debt. This forms the basis for Samson’s gameplay, where players explore the city and complete missions, earning skill points to upgrade your abilities and skills.
