Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine (via NeoGAF), Final Fantasy XV Game Director, Hajime Tabata, confirmed that the hotly anticipated RPG’s main storyline will last gamers around 50 hours.
Back in 2014 it was estimated at around 40 hours in length, so things have obviously changed somewhat in the past few years.
In addition, Tabata-san revealed that the implementation of airships, a feature highly requested by fans of the franchise, has also been determined; however, he wouldn’t elaborate any further on the subject.
In regards to the game’s release date, he simply reiterated that Final Fantasy XV would be in stores this year, but didn’t decide to touch base on the recent leak. In terms of a frame rate, the game is not at a stable 30fps yet; Tabata-san said the team is going to be working on this until development wraps.
We won’t have long to find out the release date for the game though, as Square Enix will be hosting a special event for the game next week.
Final Fantasy XV was revealed at Sony’s E3 2013 press conference for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was originally known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and was in development exclusively for the PS3, with an announcement taking place in May 2006. However, when the project reached about 25% complete, Square Enix decided to revamp the title and bring it over to current-generation systems.
Rumors have the game out in September 2016, although this has yet to be officially confirmed by Square Enix. The subject of airships has also been brought up a few times; last time we heard, the team were thinking of using them as post-launch DLC.
