Fresh Yakuza 5 details emerge

Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine (via Andriasang), Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi has dropped a few tantalizing tidbits on the upcoming fifth entry in the celebrated gangster-‘em-up franchise.

According to Nagoshi, Yakuza 5 will feature five locations, namely Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka. Series staple Kazuma Kiryu will once again feature as lead character, and the story will have direct connections to Yakuza 4.

No word yet whether the game will feature other playable characters other than Kiryu, though we’ll keep you posted.

Elsewhere, SEGA has also implemented an improved camera, shorter load times, enhanced character facial expressions and seamless conversations and fights.

The company is also planning to visit the game’s five cities in order to seek out girls who “will serve as the cheering squad for the game,” as well as appearing in commercials.

Yakuza 5 is due out exclusively on PlayStation 3 with a release date yet to be determined.
