UPDATE:

GAME has issued a statement to website Eurogamer denying these reports. Here’s the full blurb:

This reporting is categorically not true GAME continues to support the physical gaming market, offering a wide-range of physical games, hardware, software, accessories and digital gift cards, in stores and online.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

UK retail giant GAME is set to but the kibosh on all in-store physical game and gaming hardware purchases, following its decision to stop selling pre-owned consoles and titles.

That’s according to sources speaking to Gfinity, which claims that GAME is restricting hardware and gaming purchase to preorders only. New releases can be shipped to the store or to your home at the cost of a delivery fee, although right now it isn’t know if GAME will still be holding midnight launches for new hardware.

For those unaware, GAME was acquired by Frasers Group, the parent company for Sports Direct, which resulted in the chain slowly transitioning to the sale of gaming-related merchandise including board games, trading cards, toys and plushies.
